Henry Sessions of Oregon Public Broadcasting reports on one of the most ambitious urban greenspace preservation programs in the country. The combined public-private effort aims to set aside as much land as possible in and around Portland, Oregon, the last big metropolitan area on the West Coast with a large amount of undeveloped land. Gargoyles, Belltowers, Bioshelter / Steve Inskeep

Steve Inskeep of member station WBGO reports on plans to construct a giant greenhouse on the roof of the Episcopal Cathedral of St. John the Divine in New York. The proposed "bioshelter" would harbor numerous species of plant and animal life, while helping to filter the cathedral's air and wastewater. (04:29)
