SEGMENTS

Life Under The Ozone Hole / Bob Carty

Bob Carty reports from southern Chile on disturbing developments in the largest population center to be regularly exposed to the Antarctic ozone hole. Some scientists believe that increased skin cancers and blindness in sheep, fish and rabbits may be early concrete signs of the effects of increased ultraviolet radiation reaching the earth. (14:30)

CFC-Free AC / Chris Spurgeon

Chris Spurgeon of member station WHYY in Philadelphia reports on the development of a new, CFC-free air conditioning system. It’s one of several new technologies emerging under the pressure of consumer action and international efforts to phase out the use of ozone-damaging chlorofluorocarbons. (04:12)

I Want My AC / The Underground Railway

Satire from the Underground Railway Theater. (02:04)
